Katie Ashford, CPA

MANAGING partner

Katie graduated from Linfield College and earned her Certified Public Accountant license in 2010. She worked for Harold Ashford & Associates in Bend for almost 9 years before moving to Portland in 2013 to gain more experience working in a larger firm. After 3 years, Katie and her husband decided they missed their hometown of Bend and moved back to join the accounting firm, Ashford & Associates, LLP as a partner with Harold in July 2016. Katie became Managing Partner in July of 2020.

Katie’s tax and accounting experience includes areas such as construction, manufacturing, professional services, start-ups, real estate, medical and agriculture with a specialty in horse farms. She prides herself on working with clients on a personable level. She feels forming relationships with clients isn’t just about the numbers, it is about the people behind the numbers.

Mentoring and working with emerging accountants as they begin their career paths is very important to Katie. As a member of the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants, she has previously volunteered her time by serving on the Career Development Strategic Committee for several years which focuses on promoting accounting as a profession to high school and college students. Katie was the 2019-2020 chair of the OSCPA Taxation Strategic Committee and is the current 2023 – 2024 chair of the OSCPA Farming & Ranch Committee.

In her spare time, Katie enjoys riding and competing on cutting horses, spending time with her family, husband and their Labradoodle. Come football season her house is divided as her husband, Brad is an Oregon graduate and Duck fan. She is an avid Oregon State fan. Lets just say it makes life interesting in the fall!

 
 
 

Harold J Ashford, CPA

Harold graduated from Oregon State University in 1972 with a degree in Accounting, and has lived in Central Oregon since 1977.  He has been in private practice for over 40 years and has been an owner of his own accounting firm for almost 30 years.  Harold is married to Peggy, also an OSU graduate, and he has two daughters. 

Harold's history of community service is extensive and includes;  Deschutes County RFPD #2 Fire Board, South Valley Bank & Trust Board of Directors, Central Oregon Youth Investment Foundation, St. Charles Hospital Board, Deschutes County Forest Authority as well as a number of professional organizations in the accounting field. Harold also served on the Board of J Bar J Youth Services and as a Trustee on for Oregon State University Foundation. As a Trustee of the Foundation, he has served as Chair of the Finance and Audit Committees, Executive Committee and the Foundations’ liaison to OSU Cascades. Harold was awarded the OSU Alumni Association Dan Poling award for his outstanding service to OSU.

In his spare time he enjoys bird hunting, fishing, golfing and hiking the mountain trails around Central Oregon.  In the fall you can find him at Oregon State University football games tailgating with his family.

Justin Taylor

Tax Manager

Justin graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He went on to pursue his Masters in Taxation which he received from Liberty University in 2021. He has spent the past five years working in private practice, working his way up from intern to tax manager. He is currently pursuing his CPA licensure.

Justin’s tax and accounting experience includes areas such as real estate, restaurants, oil and gas, professional services, medical, and start-ups. He has a passion for working with small businesses.

Justin was born and raised in Alabama. He started working at a small CPA firm in Mobile, AL in 2018 but decided to start working remotely in 2022. Justin and his wife, Anna, have three children; Judah, Samuel, and Layton. Anna was born and raised in Oregon and they vacation every year in Sunriver, so Justin was excited to find a remote opportunity with a firm in which he can visit regularly.  He and his wife recently purchased 8.5 acres and are currently pursuing their dream of leaving the suburbs, starting a homestead, and living a more self-sustainable life.

 
 

Kalvin Kromer

Accountant

Kalvin graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2018. He received his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and minored in Information Technology while also playing for the UNCW Men’s Soccer team. Kalvin has spent the last five years continuing in the game soccer as a competitive coach and working in the residential appraisal field.. He enjoys working with numbers, is certified as a Quickbooks Online ProAdvisor, and is thrilled to be working in the accounting field now.

Kalvin has lived most of his life in North Carolina and moved to Bend in 2021. He loves Bend and likes to spend his free time going on walks and enjoying the outdoors with his girlfriend, Sydney, and his dog, Marlowe. He also enjoys playing soccer during the weekends in the local Adult leagues.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Jen Coll

Operations manager

Jen's passion for the outdoors drew her to Bend. In pursuit of a new adventure, she and her significant other Zach made the move from Arizona in the Fall of 2021. Jen graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Kinesiology and a minor in coaching. While pursuing her studies, she played for the women’s tennis team at Montana State (Go Bobcats!). After college, she spent several years in the fitness and coaching industry, and later in the retail sector.

In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, hiking, skiing, camping (basically anything outdoors) and cooking.

Miranda Baglien

Client service coordinator

Miranda is a lifelong resident of Bend, OR and recently graduated from OSU-Cascades. She lives with her wife, dog, and two cats. When she’s not spending time in various aspects of the Bend arts community, you can usually find her at home playing with the cats, taking the dog for a walk, or having “together but separate” screen time with her wife. Her goal is to make more art this year and learn how to ride her skateboard soon! 

 
 
 

Brad Mazzola

Billing & Accounts Receivable

Brad, a Bend native, graduated from Mt. View High School and went on to receive his degree in Sociology from the University of Oregon in 2010. Brad worked in the retail and private sectors for several years before joining the team in 2018. He works primarily with accounting for start-ups and enjoys the diversity that it brings.

When he isn’t in the office, he loves spending time with his dog and wife. In the summer you will find him golfing, riding his bike or fighting with the irrigation on his property in Tumalo. He is a loyal Ducks fan and watches every football game he can in the Fall.

George Oscar Bluth Jr (Gob) is a Central Oregon native as he was born in Terrebonne.  He absolutely loves nothing more than swimming in ponds of all sizes and chasing local waterfowl. His all time favorite thing, however, is the snow and he loves playing catch with snowballs. He takes full advantage of working at home and taking naps.
